Is the Thermomix worth it? My honest opinion after a few years of cooking

When I ordered my Thermomix, I was honestly a little nervous. After all, it’s not a cheap appliance. Everyone who knows me knows I love cooking — but I already had quite a few kitchen gadgets. So I wondered: is this really different? Will it truly make my life easier?
After a few months, I can say with my hand on my heart: yes, but not in the way I initially thought.
The first weeks: love and frustration
The first days with the Thermomix were a bit like a new relationship. You’re excited, but you don’t know each other well yet. I pressed the wrong buttons, forgot to close the lid properly, and was amazed that it could even weigh ingredients while cooking.
I remember my first Bolognese sauce for lasagna. The taste was delicious, but I pressed turbo a little too enthusiastically and the meat almost turned into a puree 😅. Even so, I thought: if this is my biggest problem, it’s going to be fine.
After a week, I began to understand how clever this device really is. Instead of three pots on the stove, one machine did it all — and without any mess on the countertop.
Time-saving — but differently than you think
Many people think the Thermomix “magically” makes everything faster. That’s partly true, but for me the real benefit is peace of mind.
I don’t have to constantly stir or worry about burning something. When I come home tired, I turn on the Thermomix and meanwhile set the table or pack lunchboxes for the next day.
Example? My favorite pumpkin soup. I used to spend 40 minutes in the kitchen; now it’s literally: chop – put in the bowl – 25 minutes later done. The taste is always consistent. No more “oops, too salty” moments.
Price: expensive or a smart investment?
Let’s be honest — the Thermomix is a big purchase. When I saw the price, I thought: that’s almost a trip to Italy! 😅But when I started adding up what I no longer have to buy (smoothie blender, food processor, steamer, scale, hand mixer…), I realised the amount isn’t unreasonable.
After a few months, I also noticed that I waste less food.Because the recipes are so precise, I buy only what I need and use almost everything. That makes not only my wallet happy, but also my conscience.
What I learned
No one told me that you need a little patience to truly get to know the Thermomix. It’s not a magical chef, but a partner in the kitchen.Sometimes you have to repeat a recipe, sometimes you discover something new by accident
And there’s one more thing: I started enjoying cooking again.Honestly, I thought the appliance would “take away” the fun of cooking, but instead I feel more creative. I try new cuisines, make my own pesto or bread dough, and it never feels like a chore.
My conclusion
So, is the Thermomix worth it? For me — absolutely yes. Not because it’s perfect, but because it helps me eat better every day, saves time, and lets me enjoy cooking.
The Thermomix is not just a device — it’s a way to bring joy back to cooking, even on the busiest days.
And honestly? Every time I press “start” and the house fills with the smell of fresh sauce or warm soup, I think: this was the best investment in my kitchen ever.
